TIGERTOWN TROLLEY
Lee-Russell Council of Governments is operating the Auburn University Football Game Day Shuttles from Tiger Town in Opelika for the 2011 Football season. The City of Opelika -- a member government of Lee-Russell Council of Governments -- along with the Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau and the Opelika Chamber of Commerce, are sponsoring this free shuttle bus service. The "Tiger Town Trolley" picks up next to Kohl's department store in the Tiger Town Shopping Center and at the following motels located at Exit 58: Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Microtel, Studio 6 and Tiger Town Best Western. The only on campus drop off/pick-up point is the Tiger Transit stop at Draughon Extension on Extension Loop. This is located at the west end of Heisman Drive from Jordan-Hare Stadium. This service will be available for all home games in 2011. The buses start running 3 hours before the published kickoff time and continue until 2 hour after the official end of the game. During the game, a "Shopper's Shuttle" runs between the motels, Tiger Town and the campus stop. Buses and drivers from both Lee-Russell Public Transit and PEX are being used for the Tiger Town Trolley shuttles. This free service is made possible through the cooperation of our member governments (City of Opelika, City of Auburn, City of Phenix City, Lee County and Russell County) with Auburn University, local business organizations (Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau and Chamber of Commerce) and private businesses (motels, merchants and management of Tiger Town)
Tiger Transit, the student transit service of Auburn University, is providing free service from Sam’s Club (Exit 57, Auburn), Duck-Samford Baseball Park (Airport Rd., Auburn), the Airport (Fly-ins only) Village Mall (Opelika Rd & East University Dr., Auburn), and the Auburn City Softball Complex (US 29 South at Exit 51, Auburn) to their drop off location on the north side of the new student village, west of Jordon-Hare Stadium. They also provide shuttles from several parking areas on campus including the university’s hayfields off South Donahue Drive, and the large parking area at the west end of Magnolia Avenue.
