LRCOG will host Barrier to Care in Chronic Illness, August 23, 2010 from 9:00am-10:00am. The presenter will be Julie Wells, Diabetic Educator at the EAMC Diabetes Treatment Center. The workshop will be held at the Goodwill Career Center: 3740 Pepperell Parkway Opelika, AL 36801. Pre-registration is required due to limited seating.   • Congratulations to the following grantees awarded funds for Phase 28 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program: Christian Care Ministries ($5,500.00); Domestic Violence Intervention Center ($20,520.00); Food Bank of East Alabama ($30,00.00); HIS Place/Harvest Evangelism ($12,513.00).
  • Congratulations to the Russell County Commission on your award of $148,525.00 through the Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESG). The ESG Program is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and will be utilized to provide assistance to homeless persons and victims of domestic abuse as defined under the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act. The Russell County Commission will be contracting with the House of Restoration in Phenix City, AL to carry out these services.
  • The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) was created in 1983 to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies, both non-profit and governmental, in an effort to help people with economic (not disaster-related) emergencies. LRCOG, through its Ombudsman Program, will host an Annual Long-Term Care Conference, August 26, 2010. Interested individuals and community agencies will be invited to this conference to learn about the options for long-term care for their clients, themselves, and their loved ones. The conference will have education sessions, networking opportunities, and presentations by key members of the long-term care community. Participants will learn how to plan for long-term care by knowing what to expect, legal issues regarding long-term care, types of facilities, financing options including insurance information, end of life preparation and information on recognizing and avoiding financial exploitation. Additionally, the conference will offer various levels of sponsorships for local agencies and/or businesses to provide participants with information on the type of services that can be provided during the long-term care process. If you are interested in participating as a sponsor, please fill out the attached form below and follow the instructions provided in the form on where to send it.
